Operations
The Investigation Division is responsible for investigating cases reported through the Patrol Division. Some of the crimes investigated include thefts, home and auto burglaries, identity theft, crimes against children, and sexual assaults. The goal is to arrest the person(s) responsible for the alleged crime. In addition, the Investigations Division works closely with the Maricopa and Yavapai Counties Attorney's Office to assist in the prosecution of the investigated cases.
A Special Response Team (SRT) is a specialized police unit that responds to high-risk situations that are beyond the capabilities of regular patrol.
Our Special Response Team consists of the Wickenburg Police Department as well as the Wickenburg Fire Department.
Our team trains monthly to prepare for critical incidents or high-risk situations such us active shooter response, emergency hostage rescue, barricaded suspects, search warrant service, surveillance, and tracking operations.
The Wickenburg Unified School District was awarded a federal grant to fund an SRO position at Wickenburg High School (WHS). This position was established in August 2017 and has been fully staffed ever since. In 2020, the grant was renewed for an additional three years, expanding the SRO’s role to include time spent at Vulture Peak Middle School, the junior high feeder school for WHS.
Currently, Sergeant Brandon Dalley serves as the SRO at WHS, where he plays a key role in maintaining student safety while also engaging with students in various classroom settings, and offering educational lessons related to law enforcement. Officer Joe Lahey serves as the SRO at Vulture Peak Middle School, and Officer Natanael Amavizca works at Hassayampa Elementary School, ensuring the safety and well-being of younger students.
At Wickenburg Police Department, our police patrol operations are dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of our community. Our officers engage in proactive patrolling strategies that not only deter crime but also foster positive relationships with residents.
Community engagement is at the heart of our patrol operations. We prioritize open communication with residents, encouraging them to report suspicious activities.
Officers are assigned a variety of roles including patrol and special assignments that can cover traffic, criminal investigation, and canine handling. The department serves over 26 square miles within the Town limits and regularly assists other agencies in the surrounding area
Together, we strive to build a safer environment for everyone. Your safety is our mission, and our patrol operations are a crucial component in achieving that goal.
