1. What hours can I pay my bill at Town Hall?: Monday - Thursday; 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

3. What services am I paying for on my Wickenburg utility bill each month?: Most Wickenburg bills include four utilities: water, wastewater (sewer), electric, and sanitation (trash). Depending on where you live in Wickenburg, you may not pay all four of these. Some customers, for example, only pay for water and sanitation.

4. What days of the week are my trash and recycling picked up?: Call the utilities department at (928) 684-5451 x1520 for specific information, but generally the residential trash and recycling pick up is as follows:
Monday: Trash pickup North of Wickenburg Way. Tuesday: Trash pickup South of Wickenburg Way. Wednesday: Recycling pickup North of Wickenburg Way. Thursday: Recycling pickup South of Wickenburg Way

5. Who should I call if they forgot to pick up my trash or recycling?: Utilities at (928) 684-5451 x1520, Monday - Thursday; 7:00 am - 6:00 pm

6. How does the Town determine how much to charge for these utility services?: All Wickenburg utilities are what are known as Enterprise Funds, meaning they are self-sufficient through user fees rather than subsidized by tax dollars. Utility rates are approved by the Town Council. These rates are set up to collect only as much revenue as it costs to run the service, with a small portion being set aside for infrastructure repair and improvements.

7. I received a utility bill that seems higher than normal. What should I do?: Please contact our utility billing division right away at (928) 684-5451 x1520. One of our customer service representatives will be happy to assist you in determining which of your utilities (water, sewer, electric, or trash) is higher than average and what the cause may be.

8. Why did I receive a large water bill this month?: Water bills can be higher than average for a variety of reasons. Some common causes include: hosting guests in your home for an extended period of time; a leaking toilet, sink, or other plumbing fixture; a leaking appliance, such as a washing machine or dishwasher; filling a pool or other water feature; or leaving a hose or irrigation system running for an extended period of time.

9. Why did I receive a large electric bill this month?: Electric bills in Arizona can fluctuate drastically from winter to summer, with the higher temperatures increasing the use of air conditioners or swamp coolers. More people also means more electricity for more hot water, lights, cooking, and other appliance usage. Just one extra body creates more heat, opens more doors, and takes more showers. Another possible drain on electricity, which you would need to have a licensed electrician or other contractor verify, is aging or faulty appliances.

10. My bill is high and I checked all my appliances, hoses, and plumbing fixtures and don't see any leaks. What should I do?: Contact Utility billing division at (928) 684-5451 x1520 to set up a walk-through of your home or business with a member of our utilities staff. While they will try their best to help you determine if there’s an undetected leak, or other problem, it would be up to the property owner to contact a licensed plumber or electrician to confirm all appliances and fixtures are working properly. In rare cases, an underground water or irrigation line may also be leaking somewhere on your property or theft of your water may be occurring.

11. Is it possible for a water meter to “jump” or “over-read,” resulting in a high bill?: Modern water meters are precision engineered equipment designed to be extremely accurate. Therefore, it is very rare for a meter to malfunction resulting in a higher reading than the amount of water that actually passes through it. Though only the flow of water can register usage on a meter, over time dirt, other debris, and aging meters can actually cause a water meter to become slower, resulting in a lower reading and a reduced water bill.

12. I think my water meter is reading incorrectly. What are my options?: Customers have the option of having their meter tested by an independent company not affiliated with the Town. Though a Meter Test Fee is required at the time this service is ordered, this fee is refundable if the meter is found to be over-reading. Should the meter be over-reading an adjustment will be issued during the next billing cycle. The customer forfeits this testing fee if the meter is found to be operating within normal range or is under-billing the customer.

13. What can I do with bulk trash, electronics, or large brush?: Bulk trash can be taken to the annual dump days, free of charge, for Town of Wickenburg customers. This event usually occurs in April. The brush can be picked up for a charge by calling (928) 684-5451 x1520. Electronics recycling usually takes place twice per year in November and April. Please call Public Services at (928) 684-5451 x1556 for the exact dates.

14. Who do I contact regarding water, electric, and garbage service?: The Town of Wickenburg handles the water and garbage service throughout the Town. The utility department can be reached by calling (928) 684-5451 x1520. You will need to fill out a utility account application and service request form which can be completed online, emailed, faxed, or brought to Town Hall. The Town is the electric provider for the downtown area and APS is the electric provider outside that area. If you provide your address to the utility department, they can let you know who your provider is for your house. There is also a list of service providers at Town Hall.
